LIFE

Image
LIFE BY FAVOUR. O. AUGUSTINE A poem written for Dr. O. O. Popoola   Life is a gluttonous, empty pool , Forever starving, never full. It refuses to stay hollow, Yet, it swallows without mercy. Man is just a wandering tenant , But still, becomes its bait in the end. Unplanned, unexpected, It snatches the brightest away. And when the dust settles, When the tears dry just a little, It keeps marching, unfazed Like nothing sacred was lost. All it leaves behind Is a pool of memories, Heavy, tender, aching. If life wasn’t a ravenous thing, Why would it keep demanding The very people we love? Goodnight Dr. Popoola. Till we meet again sir 🕊️ Photo credit: Google Chrome

PAPA

PAPA - A POEM BY FAVOUR. O. AUGUSTINE When I think of Papa, I see a tree in summer, shedding its leaves just to preserve life. Not his own; but that of others. Papa is not a person, Papa is a place. A place only a hero can be, built by painful sacrifices. Where love forms the walls, and every path is marked with care; to guide, to lead aright, to watch closely. Papa is not just a home, Papa is a safe place. Thank God for giving me that place. I love you PAPA.  For my Dad 🫂 Photo credit: My Dad

ANOTHER SUNSHINE

Image
ANOTHER SUNSHINE Who put off the lights? Did they go dim.... Or our vision became blurry? Why does the nights persist? Bring back our dawn! Or has she strayed away? Who will awaken the sun? Tell her it's morning; Her time to rise again. O Sun! Giver of light Give us light today Save us right now; From the claws of the dark. Help us shine bright again... Written By: Favour. O. Augustine

SCARED TO LOVE

Image
SCARED TO LOVE When love lurks, My heart leaps Like a frightened frog. I become like a bewildered teenager, Still toying with puberty. Love is not the thing I dread. My fears; I do not even know. But when love comes knocking, My heart keeps me behind closed doors. I want to embrace her, Making her stay strong And last long: But, my timid heart chooses to let go. It echoes again and again. What if love prang? What if love is just a passer-by? When these thoughts make my head to bang, I chose to leave the door shut. Driving love to bay And making her go away.  Photo Credit: Google chrome  By: FAVOUR AUGUSTINE

WHO IS FEAR?

Image
It is not an awful thing to be scared. We should just embrace the fact that we can thrive above fear.   WHO IS FEAR? Fear is a rotten grape, With peels so raw And juice that tastes so sour. She gives no sweetness And adds no freshness. Fear is a dark crayon; broken and black. Still, she colours the heart Making beautiful colors shadows. A subtle thief of the brightness A brave heart beams.  Fear is a hopeless prey, Scared to die and fade away. She makes the predator believe he is the prey; Making mockery of his great prowess. They tarry along the way, On a journey she was never meant to stay. Fear is a mere coward. She leaps to flee when hope arise And boldness is held. She was never resilient; Just a weightless feather that can fly away.  Photo Credit: Shutterstock  By: FAVOUR AUGUSTINE

I CAN

Image
Every ability begins with a belief in oneself. If we trust that we can BE, then we can BECOME.  I CAN I know I can: I can be the stars that sparkle. Even when the lights are dim, I will dazzle in the dark. I can be the eagle Soaring through the highest mountains, Unwilling to settle for less, Piercing through the clouds, Aiming for the peak always. I can have dreams like the ocean; Vast and never ending, With a drive like the oceanic current To make my dreams true. I know I can trust a prayer, And believe in myself; To be bold and true Refusing to play the victim In a flip of page Fear has staged Of a drama, life has scripted.
